HMCLZC Driving Directions from Route 208

From Route 208 North:

Take the Russell Avenue exit
Go toward "Wyckoff Business District" (Russell Ave. bends to the right and dead ends at Wyckoff Ave.)
Go left. Follow Wyckoff Avenue through town until it ends at Godwin Ave.
Go left on Godwin.
Go right on Crescent Avenue.
Turn right into the second driveway on your right, 393 Crescent Avenue.
Enter through the back door beside the garden. The first door on your right leads into the ante-room of the zendo.

From the South:

Take 287 North to Exit 59, "208/Franklin Lakes."
Continue on 208 South 3 miles to the Russell Avenue exit.
Turn left (green sign reads "Wyckoff Business District") and go back over 208 on Russell Avenue.
Follow the instructions above.

Driving Directions from New York City

Take the George Washington Bridge to Route 4 West;
After about 20 minutes, you will come to a junction. If you stay to your left, you will continue on Route 4 West; if you stay to your right, you will end up on Saddle River Road; and if you stay near the center, you will end up on 208 North.
However! The tricky thing is that what looks like the center road at first veers off to the left; so stay more toward the right. Pay close attention to the signs. Remember, you want to end up toward the center to get onto 208 North.
Once you're on 208 North, follow the instructions above.

Public Transportation Directions from New York City

You will take the NJ Transit Bus:

Depart from Port Authority Bus Terminal;

Arrive at Wortendyke Station in Midland Park, NJ (at Central Avenue & Greenwood Avenue).

The trip takes about an hour. The fare is $4.75 each way. (Although you can of course get a round-trip ticket, there is no discounted round-trip fare.)

Give yourself PLENTY of time to get to the ticketing section of the station and buy your ticket, and from there give yourself PLENTY of time to get to the Gate you will be leaving from. Make sure to confirm the Gate you will be leaving from. Wortendyke Station in New Jersey is a simple bus stop with benches which are partially enclosed with a shelter.

This is the basic schedule:

Depart from Port Authority: 8:50 a.m.

Arrive at Wortendyke Station: 10:03 a.m.

If you arrive on time, I will pick you up. (Of course, you must notify me that you need me to pick you up when you register, or at the very latest the night before the workshop. My cell phone is 201-790-5604.

Make sure you have your cell phone with you. If you miss your 8:50 a.m. bus, you will need to call Ridgewood Taxi (201-444-1800) for a cab, which will be approximately $12.00 plus tip. Call Ridgewood Taxi before you arrive since there will probably be a wait for the taxi.

If the Saturday or Sunday you're coming happens to fall on a holiday, the schedule may be a little bit different. Also, the schedule may change without our realizing it. So to be on the safe side, call NJ Transit at (1-800-772-2222) to confirm the day's schedule. Or better yet (since NJ Transit phones can frequently be hard to get through to) click the link in the paragraph below to go to NJ Transit's "Itinerary Planning" page.

Following is the information you need in order to fill in the Itinerary Planning page (it is not very user-friendly for someone who is not already familiar with the area they're going to!):

How to Use the NJ Website Itinerary Planning Page to confirm the schedule:

Click http://atisweb.njtransit.com/cgi-bin/itin_page.pl.

Under "Enter Your Starting Point," select "NYC Landmark."

From the "NYC Landmark" drop-down menu, select "Port Authority Bus Terminal."

Now go to the "Enter Your Destination" section.

Under this section select "Intersection"; two boxes will appear which are labeled "Street." In the first box, enter "Central Ave."; in the second box, enter "Greenwood Ave."

From the "City/State" dropdown menu, choose "Midland Park, NJ."

Go to section labeled "Choose Date/Time Range."

Enter date and choose "Depart At"; enter "8:50 a.m."

Under "Customize Itinerary," choose "Bus Only."

Click "Submit" and you will get the fare along with the closest available departure and arrival time.
